Good design should do more than look good
I’m Ricky, a Dutch designer based in Antwerp. I help companies turn complicated ideas into brands, websites and campaigns that people can understand, trust and act on. Outside work, I am part of the watch community and probably care far too much about it.

How it started
My Story
By the age of ten, I was filling pages with drawings and (often) ridiculous comic-book stories. I did not know what a designer was yet. I only knew that I enjoyed turning ideas into something creative. That instinct never really left. It simply became more useful.
Since starting independently in 2016, I’ve worked on more than 100 projects across branding, websites, print and campaigns. The industries change, but the problem is often similar: the business has something valuable to offer, but the way it presents itself is getting in the way.

If it only looks good, it isn’t good enough.
Design has a job to do. It should earn trust, make your business easier to understand and give people a reason to choose you.

Independent Designer
Your project shouldn’t get lost between people.
On larger agency projects, the person you brief is not always the person doing the work. Ideas get passed between account managers, strategists and designers. You repeat yourself, feedback loses its meaning and the original problem becomes less clear.
As an independent designer, I keep that distance out of the process. You explain the problem once, we make the important decisions together and I stay responsible for the work through delivery.

One conversation
You brief me directly, and I stay involved from our first call to the final handover.
Faster, clearer decisions
Feedback goes straight to the person doing the work, without being translated between departments.
A scope you can trust
Before we begin, you know what I’m delivering, what it costs and what the work needs to achieve.

How I Work
Clear thinking before design.
Discover / Align / Scale
I start by finding out what is not working, who needs to care and what the project has to change. The visuals come after that.

01
Understand the problem
Before I design anything, I need to understand your business, your customers and where people are currently getting lost.
What isn’t working?
Who needs to care?
What should the work achieve?
02
Choose a clear direction
We agree on the message, structure and visual direction before the project grows into dozens of pages, screens or assets.
One clear message
One visual direction
One agreed plan

03
Build for what comes next
I turn that direction into a brand, website or campaign that is easy to use, consistent to roll out and ready to grow with your business.
Built around the business
Easy to use consistently
Ready for delivery
